Episode 06: Holla for Challah
Our story today is called Holla for Challah and it's a story about fully immersing yourself in a new-to-you religious culture with a Jewish stay-at-home Mom from the Ukraine, Israel, and Canada (she's called a lot of places home). It's also about standing up for freedom of speech, diverse media representation, and the life you want for your children. If you find your faith most nourishing when it comes in the form of some heavenly carbs, then this story is for you ;)
So get ready to wander with a wonder star!
Best Quote: "I love that it [making Challah] didn't feel like this chore or this difficult thing to make these six loaves and you have to use five pounds of flour and just - it is a beautiful thing, a fun thing, and it is so delicious and... that's the reason, partially, why at some point I had a little business selling Challah... what you're saying, that passing it on. Whether it's the actual loaf of bread, or the recipe, or the knowledge of how to make it: that is the spiritual part of it that I can't explain. It's that magic of Challah."
